The first part of IVF starts when the women start her menstrual cycle. During this phase, she starts taking birth control pills which regulate her menstrual cycle. The ovarian stimulation process lasts from 8 to 12 days.

Step 3: Preparing for egg retrieval
Mostly 36 hours before the egg retrieval the women receive a dose of HCG. This medication encourages the release of eggs from the follicles. It is referred to trigger shot. Step 4: Egg Retrieval
Egg retrieval is itself a surgical procedure that takes 30 minutes. The egg retrieval procedure should be scheduled before the woman receives the trigger shot ensuring synchronization. Step 5: IVF Fertilization process

There is also another way called ICSI (Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection). In this, the semen sample is collected from the intended father and finds the most viable sperm. ICSI method is useful when there are sperm issues since only one healthy sperm is enough for fertilization.
Step 6: Creating the embryos for the IVF process
After the embryos are created, they are kept in the IVF laboratory for 3 to 6 days. Although on the 3rd-day embryos starts dividing, they have 6 to 8 cells. On the other hand, by day 5 to 6 embryos have about 80 to 120 cells. This procedure allows the doctors to select the best quality embryos and ensure the best results.
Step 7: Preparing the Uterus Lining
Women at this stage begin daily injections of progesterone the day following the egg retrieval. The progesterone nourishes the uterus lining and prepares it for introducing the embryos into the body. The women continue to take the supplement for 14 to 21 days after the embryo transfer.
Step 8: Embryo transferring
It takes about 3 to 6 days after embryo transfer. It is a simple process done at the doctor’s clinic which takes around 15 to 20 minutes. In this procedure, the doctor will introduce a small catheter into the womb via the cervix. The embryo is transferred directly into the uterus for implantation.
Step 9: Taking the Pregnancy Test
The women take a pregnancy test 11 to 14 days after the embryo transfer.
