Gracias Maternity Hospital

Gracias Maternity Hospital in the heart of Margao city has stood ground as a fort delivering babies for generations and helping women with Gynaec care and reaching out to nearly every home in South Goa. Dr Carmo Gracis who has dedicated his life to this profession along with his wife Fernanda Gracias for the last forty years recalls how Late Dr Antonio Sanatana Gracias, his beloved father founded the very same hospital in 1941 as the first Hospital in South Goa to provide maternity care. Way back then in the 1940's most of the deliveries took place at home with increasing number of child mortality reported. Gracias Maternity Hospital is located beside Loyola High School, an all-boys school run by the Jesuits which was also incidentally built by his grandfather Mr Roque Minguel Gracias. Similar to the School which is renowned to produce alumni that are employed globally, Gracias Maternity Hospital has helped parents deliver babies that have brought endless smiles and decades of joy to couples.
